Here is what happens when I try it:

89: java -XXaltjvm=$ths/build/solaris/solaris_sparc_compiler1/product -version
There was an error trying to initialize the HPI library.
Could not create the Java virtual machine.

Christian says he will address this, a known issue with hpi library loading.
