Description
While fixing some bugs, I have noticed that the glass GTK backend could use some cleaning and updating.

Will provide a PR with the suggested changes and updates.
Comments
I converted this to an Umbrella Task that we can use to keep track of the various improvements. We can link each such separate enhancement as a "blocking" issue.
