After installing the RPM ( yum install ./jdk-8u172-linux-x64.rpm), the top
level directory, jdk1.8.0_172, has an extension of "amd64". After
installation the java version reads correctly, but again, why are these now
named with a -amd64 extension as part of the installation? The RPM doesn't
have this extension, why would the installation directory? This is different
from how these JDK8 RPM's were delivered in the past. The JVM's are up and
running, but again, why does it say AMD64 instead of just x86_64 like the
past rpm's?
