FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
at least java 7 and 8
ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
OS X
10.9 Mavericks
10.10 Yosemite
10.11 El Capitan
EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
same behavior on different (every) computers, systems and java versions.
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
I tried to disable the auto update function in the java control panel of the OS X preferences by unchecking the given checkbox.
I apply the change in the checkbox and close the panel (or change to another section of the panel).
But if I re-open the panel the auto update is checked again.
(I also get the message window from the updater if an update is available )
I have to disable the auto update because the FileMaker Server only running with a specific java version. Changing the version could lead to a big mess.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
1. uncheck the auto update checkbox in the control panel (via system preferences) of any OS X of the last few years.
2. Save the changes
3. close the panel
4. open the panel again
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
never want to see a message window of the updater again.
(I do not want that other people to see that window and I do not want them to install that update)
ACTUAL -
the update window appears every time if an update is available
but I have to avoid that to keep the FileMaker Server running.
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
