Now I see. Thank you Kevin for clarification.

Thanks for getting this back on track, Kevin.
Assigning to Devika, now that her privileges have been updated. She is handling the release notes and will mark this as fixed when she is done.

I checked the review copy of the 8u20 release notes and this issue is documented. Once Joni confirms, she can resolve this as fixed.

To be extra clear:
1) This JIRA -- RT-38027 -- is tracking the release note, not the fix (note the component = Docs)
2) The issue is still relevant for 8u20, since the engineering fix for RT-37914 is only fixed in 8u40, and so must appear in the 8u20 release notes.
3) RT-38027 should be resolved as fixed by the docs team (not by dev) when the release notes are done.

The fixversion for this release-note doc issue must be 8u20 per the release note guidelines. Also, unless the release note is done (Joni can confirm), the JIRA should be left open.

My bad. Fix version is 8u40. I've changed it.
29-07-2014
Does that mean the release note is not needed for 8u20?
28-07-2014
This should be fixed now.

Suggested text for release note:
The JavaFX Media component in 8u20 requires the following packages which are not shipped with Ubuntu 14.04:
libavcodec53
libavformat53
libavutil51
Ubuntu 14.04 ships with newer, incompatible versions of these packages.
Workaround: install the specific versions of the required packages.
