Description
At present, no British English language file is available for the colour picker, so the US spelling (color) is always forced.

This should be a relatively trivial fix (controls_en_GB.properties file to be added with the British spellings), but there appears to be no easy workaround without modifying the system.
Comments
The l10n team will not do this or test in en_GB locale. But please feel free to work on this if desired.

Does that mean that we will not do this?
16-10-2014

No, there is no GB localization for anything like awt/swing. It's not an Oracle requirement. It's nice to have a one-off translation for colour for this particular bug, but there's no plan for GB translation as a whole.

I would like to do this for 8u40.

Michael Fang, are you going to get to the bottom of this? Does anyone know whether there is GB localization for AWT/Swing?
16-10-2014

We currently do not support translation for en_GB, but please feel free to add a controls_en_GB.properties file with translation for color/colour.

Reassigning this to the localization team. They will need to comment on whether this is something they will do.
