Justification for 8u60 backport of this enhancement: This change is needed to improve the eager reclaim of large objects feature that is already present in 8u40, making it much more useful. This is a performance enhancement with noticable impact for CRM FUSE. It is also needed as a precursor for a collection of fixes for bugs in that feature already present in 8u40; see the "blocked by this bug" list. There has been substantial testing of this feature plus those fixes in 9, including a number of specifically focused regression tests.
