Consumer complains that when downloading 6u10 from http://www.java.com, they are getting error 25099.

WORK AROUND Stop the jqs.exe process before running the install.

EVALUATION In 25099 Logfiles 1\java_install.log, six times: extracting: bin/jqs.exeError:fopen: while opening file <bin/jqs.exe> was the error logged when extracting C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\core.zip. jqs.exe should have been stopped during uninstall and not allowed to be running during install. Changing synopsis to: Running jqs.exe before installation caused Error 25099 during install The files in use logic should not have let the install get to this point.

WORK AROUND Workaround: Uninstall the existing 6u10+ jre installation first. If the jqs.exe process or any process in the jre install directory is still running, kill it in task manager. Delete any files remaining in the jre install directory.

EVALUATION I need more information about the steps to reproduce and the java_install.log files. I believe both reported problems are with updating 6u10 beta to 6u10 GA, and without the benefit of 1.6.0_10-b33_from_beta.xml which we expected to be in place. Another possible workaround: try the offline install without sponsors. (Error 25099 would have been an Error 1722 before 6u10, but at least now information is logged to %TEMP%\java_install.log.)

PUBLIC COMMENTS Error 25099 sends the output of the unzip command to %TEMP%\java_install.log. Take a look at %TEMP%\java_install.log.
