Description
FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
Java Plug-in 1.6.0_10-ea and also standard 1.6 release

ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Windows Vista

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
It is not possible to record sound if running under Windows Vista.

It works fine with with MacOS and with Windows XP.

Seems related to running under Vista, rather than any java version.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Test case, Under Windows Vista,
download http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/sound/samples/JavaSoundDemo/

try to record sound on the Capture/Playback tab.

No sound is recorded.

(To verify recording on machine is working, you can download Audacity.)

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
I expected to be able to playback the sound I had just recorded.
ACTUAL -
No sound was heard.

ERROR MESSAGES/STACK TRACES THAT OCCUR :
No error message is given.

REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
no workaround found. i consider this to be a very serious bug, since windows vista will become a very common platform.

- this is an issue reported against 7(7u), - there are now affected version 9 filed for this issue - 7u issues are transferred to Sustaining Nevertheless if someone have a report against 9 - please reopen and add affectedVersion 9 or 7u specific escalations might be reopen to Sustaining
