STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :

4. Open xterm.
5. Switch back to desktop 1.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :

The Java window has the focus
ACTUAL -
The Xterm should have the focus because it had the focus before switching.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Well, changing the window manager. Other window manager handle desktop switching different, so the but does not exist there.
The problem has been confirmed by the developer of the Xfce window manager, Olivier Fourdan. Read here http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.desktop.xfce.devel.version4/cutoff=4605 .
