Java Sound does not provide MPEG I layer 3 (mp3) decoding for playback. mp3 is
gaining more and more importance, especially for streaming media over the
Internet and pay-per-listen systems. The JDK and JRE should provide mp3 decoding
support so that customers will choose Java as platform for these applications.

This is the most requested feature to add to Java Sound. As of 2/25/02, there
are 184 JDC votes supporting this.
