Description
Customer problem description:

We are experiencing similar problems as reported in the following
bug reports from Bug Parade: 4250240, 4345713, 4264737, 4305078

The problem happens consistently on Window NT. It does not appear to happen
on Windows 2000. We have tested on 1.3.1_02 and 1.4rc1.

We have setup our test server so that you can run against it. If you run on
a Windows NT client at 800x600 resolution, you will see the problem.
Make sure your NT computer is at 800x600. When the QuickFind applet appears,
click the Find button. Scroll horizontally several times, using the scroll
'thum' or by clicking in the empty space of the scroll bar. You will soon
see white unpainted areas on the screen.

The 800x600 resolution will cause the browser scroll bars to appear. Scroll
using the scroll bar 'thumb'. I am pretty sure that it is a repaint
problem. If you minimize the browser window and reopen it, the unpainted
white areas dissappear.

I am attaching a screenshot of the problem included in a jar.

Comments
EVALUATION I was not able to reproduce this problem on any Windows NT machine in the lab. Worked with Channasubbana on this issue and was able to see the problem on his machine (via VNC). He also told me that this problem was reproducible with MSVM - seems that this is IE bug. ###@###.### 2002-02-27 Although this bug is related to Bug 4439669, this is not as severe as the "white banding" on the display is recoverable after subsequent scrolling. For Bug 4439669, the display would be completely fractured and the only way to recover it is to restart the browser. After some investigation, we've concluded that bug 4439669 was caused by some bug in IE5.5 and subsequent patch sp2 fixes the problem. For this bug, the problem can be demonstrated by running some applets from the javaboutique web site using MSVM. So again the problem is related to the browser and not JPI. IE 6 appears to have fixed this problem. Since the escalation corresponds to bug has been closed, the bug should be closed as well. ###@###.### 2002-03-01 Since this is an IE bug, this bug is closed. ###@###.### 2002-03-08
