Problem experienced with JRE 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.2.2-W, and 1.2.2-001

I'm running a proprietary, interactive software develpoment tool (unable to
provide source code).  The problem is reproducible in any Java 2 environment
(but not Java 1, as far as I can tell).  This appears to be a recurrence of
bug 4119686.  I understand that this has been closed as unreproducible, and I
can't provide a simple way of your reproducing it, but this is a very
significant problem for us as we have no way of working around it.  Does the
failing address give any indication as to what the cause of the problem might
be?  I'd be willing to turn on any diagnostics, or try any diagnostic version
of the awt in order to help pin down this problem...
