PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
This bug was found in the Oracle Developer certification testing
of JDK 1.1.7B. John Stampfl has access to the test environment
needed to reproduce this bug.

The control key is not being recognised.

TESTCASE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTION:
(1) Run the test case TIAMOTRG
(2) When the form lanches, click BLOCK --> NEXT three times to arrive at the
screen that says "SHIFT ALT CONTROL"
(3) Holding down the 'CONTROL' key click the button with the label
"SYSTEM.MOUST_BUTTON_SHIFT_STATE".
(4) The result shows "SHIFT STATE", not "SHIFT STATE CONTROL +" as expected.
This is indicative that the 'CONTROL' button is not being recognised.

To run this in the Engineering domain:

set your path to JDK1.1.7.

appletviewer http://grackle.eng/html/tiamotrg.html

A small applet window will appear.

When window0 appears, click on the menu item at the top labled "Block",
a drop down menu will appear, select next,

repeat 2 more times, that is click on block again, select next,
click on Block again, select next.

In the upper left of the window should appear a block with:
"Shift
 Alt
 Control"

a line goes to the right to a larger block with 7 entries, select the
second from the top "system.mouse button shift state"

when selected a message will appear in the block to the right.

On both Solaris 2.6 and NT I received the correct message.

I will check with Oracle.

EVALUATION Apparently, we have never been able to reproduce this bug. I cannot get a copy of the test case, so I asked the Sun contact for more information. eric.hawkes@eng 2000-03-13 Moving to incomplete. Apparently we've asked Oracle about this a couple of times now, but never got any information. eric.hawkes@eng 2000-04-04 This bug has been in the incomplete state for over three months. It was filed well over a year ago. We have never been able to reproduce it. I am therefore closing it as not reproducible. If the submitter believes there is still a problem, he can submit a new bug along with a test case. eric.hawkes@eng 2000-07-10
