Solaris 2.6 with the euro patch (8859-15 patch) adds a new
encoding, sun_eu_greek:

el.sun_eu_greek
el.sun_eu_greek@euro

The Solaris JDK doesn't recognize this, and uses 8859-1.

This is a problem with both 1.2 and 1.1.7. As a result, the
euro locale "el.sun_eu_greek@euro" cannot display the euro
character.

EVALUATION sun_eu_greek is now the alias of ISO-8859-7, which is waiting to update to its 2003 version. See#6404504

EVALUATION For more info about the patch, see: http://rain.ireland.sun.com/~tgarland/projects/euro/external/ I obtained the patch for Solaris 2.6 from (these paths may be stale): /net/sunsoftpatch.eng/patches/temporary/T106842-01 Requires: /net/sunsoftpatch.eng/patches/temporary/T106841-01 /net/oss.corp/patchdb/patchdb/unbundled/openwin/3.6/105633-11 Please reassign to engineer responsible for encodings. alan.liu@eng 1999-03-17 fred.oliver@East 2000-04-13 Now that Java Software has become responsible for the Solaris production release, it is obliged to support all Solaris locales. In addition - font.properties are required for this locale. Should be strongly considered for 1.4.1. ###@###.### 2002-01-16
