Hello,

First of all I would like to congratulate and thank the Java Development team
for a wonderful job they are doing.. I have been following/using Java since its early
days (or nights). It has proven to be very useful and has matured into a very robust environment.
Along with the compliments, I also have a couple of suggestions..

Suggestions/Requests:
1. I was wondering if there were any plans to support ICMP and/or RAW sockets
using Java just as standard TCP and UDP is supported in the core java.net system.

2. I think Java (used along with PICO chips) can prove to be a very useful
Printer language. If SUN could convince major printer companies to utilize PICO
and Java together. This could give "true pinter definition independence".
It would also solve the "Printing Workarounds" in Java.
Feel free to contact me on the address below if this sounds unclear
or if you are interested in what I had in mind..

Thank You

EVALUATION The second suggestion is less than clear and seems to be asking for a marketing push to market Java to a new segment of the industry. It does not appear to me to be requesting any specific software feature that the 2D group would be involved with. The first suggestion, though, is clearly a specific request for a specific feature that falls under the domain of the networking code. Since the only specific software feature request listed here is a networking feature, I am reassigning this bug to the network classes... jim.graham@Eng 1998-07-14
