Description
More Information link at Java Uninstall Tool for MAC need to be updated.
This currently points to page w.r.t Windows:
https://www.java.com/remove

Link need to be updated to (MAC specific):
https://www.java.com/mac_uninstall_faq
Comments
Seems to affect Installer only, and so does not apply to OpenJDK. Putting openjdk-na tag to get it off backporting radar. Revert if incorrect.

[~ssadetsky] please fix it in 8u-cpu repo

Then the link in the uninstaller needs to be updated (currently the link is hard coded in the dialog) to one of the following URLs. For Windows Uninstaller the URL will be https://www.java.com/remove For macOS Uninstaller the URL will be https://www.java.com/mac_uninstall_faq Can we reassign this bug to the installer/uninstaller team ?

Hi Pardeep, https://java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_java.xml is not a vanity URL. Is this the URL link that you see when you hover the "More Info" link in the uninstaller dialog ? If this the URL you are seeing in the uninstaller dialog, then it is hard coded and needs to be changed in the uninstaller. To clarify further - The vanity URL detects user's preferred browser language and redirects accordingly. We currently have 2 LDRs (at Akamai level) setup - 1) https://www.java.com/remove resolves to https://www.java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_java.xml (based on user's language preference) 2) https://www.java.com/jutmanfaq resolves to https://www.java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_java.xml (based on user's language peference) I setup a new vanity URL at java.com system level, which means https://www.java.com/mac_uninstall_faq resolves ONLY to en at all times - https://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_uninstall_java.xml I filed a request with PDIT for making the Akamai level change for https://www.java.com/mac_uninstall_faq which will then resolves the URL based on user's browser language preference. This change can expect to go live around Dec 14, 2018 So for Windows Uninstaller, in the More Info dialog, we can link to one of the vanity URLs- https://www.java.com/remove https://www.java.com/jutmanfaq For Mac uninstaller, the more info can be linked to the following vanity URL https://www.java.com/mac_uninstall_faq

Exact url is: https://java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_java.xml which seems a vanity url.

What is the exact URL that "More Information" link in the installer dialog pointing to ? Is it hardcoded to "/en/download/help/uninstall_java.xml" ? Or is a vanity URL something like https://java.com/uninstalljava ? If it a hard coded link then the change needs to be done in the installer. If it a vanity URL, we need to add detection so that based on user OS they either get redirected to mac_uninstall_java or uninstall_java by default.
