The issue is resolved via JDK-8193156

The issue appears to be caused by the fix for JDK-8085903. Confirming that the failure is observed with 7u101-b33, 7u111-b31, 7u121-b01, 8u112-b01, 8u121-b01, but not with earlier builds.

The issue is confirmed with JDK 7u161, 8u152, 9+181, and latest 10, but not with 6u181.
