Description
The T2K rasterizer and ICU layout engine have been removed from JavaFX.
Comments
In the JavaFX implementation in Oracle JDK 8 and 9, it was possible to select using the platform independent T2K closed source font rasteriser and and concurrently the ICU opentype layout engine by specifying -Dprism.text=t2k. This system property is now non-functional and the underlying code that supported it has been completely removed from JavaFX in Oracle JDK 10. JavaFX now only renders text using the platform libraries (eg DirectWrite on Windows and CoreText on MacOS). This note does not relate to, or affect, applications using the Java SE client APIs (AWT/Swing/2D) - only JavaFX.
