Cannot run because java is not installed yet.

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
When running the install on Mac OS X 10.10, it will not install with the following message:

Java from Oracle requires Mac OS X 10.7.3 or later.
Your system has Mac OS X Version 10.10. This product can be installed on Version 10.7.3 or later.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
On a Mac with OS X 10.10
-Open jdk-8u5-macosx-x64.dmg
-Double-click on the package
Message displayed stating:
Java from Oracle requires Mac OS X 10.7.3 or later.
Your system has Mac OS X Version 10.10. This product can be installed on Version 10.7.3 or later.
