A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
When I open the OSX System Preferences -> Java Control Panel and go to the Security Tab there is a checkbox "Enable Java Content in the browser".
I click it and the checkmark appears.
I click on the Apply button.
A dialog appears saying "java wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this."
I type my password and click on the OK button.
The dialog disappears and the check mark is REMOVED from the "Enable Java Content in the browser" Checkbox.

REGRESSION. Last worked in version 7u45

ADDITIONAL REGRESSION INFORMATION:
Actually I cannot verify what was the last version when it worked, because once 1.8.0 is installed I cannot get back to the 1.7 control panel.

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
I can enable java applets in my browser.
ACTUAL -
I am unable to enable Java applets.

REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
