The JDI API is missing the ability to invoke interface default methods. Interface default methods are a new feature in JDK8.

This issue is relevant to providers of java debugger tools - eg. NetBeans, Eclipse, Idea etc.
Currently it is not possible to programmatically invoke default interface methods using the JDI API. The interface default methods are a new feature of JDK 8 and the JDI specification hasn't been updated to work with this feature yet.
