The key here is in the compiler output: jdk/src/solaris/native/java/net/Inet4AddressImpl.c: In function 'Java_java_net_Inet4AddressImpl_lookupAllHostAddr': jdk/src/solaris/native/java/net/Inet4AddressImpl.c:170: warning: implicit declaration of function 'lookupIfLocalhost' jdk/src/solaris/native/java/net/Inet4AddressImpl.c:170: warning: assignment makes pointer from integer without a cast The external definition for lookupIfLocalhost needs to proceed any call. Additionally: 1) the call to lookupIfLocalhost in Inet6AddressImpl is conditional on a value that will always prevent it being called. The if (error) should be simply removed. 2) ia_preferIPv6AddressID is not guaranteed to be set if lookupIfLocalhost is called form Inet4AddressImpl. It should set in the Inet6AddressImpl initializeInetClasses.

Yup, I just noticed the extern was in the wrong place in Inet4AddressImpl. Looking to add preferIPv4Stack=true to a couple of net tests now.

@amy - just an FYI that this is caused by the changes to InetAddress.getLocalHost (see JDK-7180557). It only happens when IPv6 is disabled by running with -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true so a bit surprising that only one test caught it. Rob and I looked at the crash last night and it appears to be a linkage issue, looks like there are duplicate symbols. Rob is working on it now.
