9 b02 JRE installer on MAC OS 10.8.x works fine. The dmg file opens with all the standard installation steps, as expected in a normal install.

Use 3rd party approved perl tools DataPlist-BinaryWriter and MacFinder-DSStore to create .DSStore file to precisely position icon and windows while replacing the applescript.

Release team: Approved for deferral to 8-pool

This does not appear to be reproducible with JDK 8 b111 promoted. Not closing since it is suspected it is intermittent.
Regardless, SQE-OK to defer from JDK8.
No functionality is effected. Just less-snazzy UE.

8-defer-justification:
This fix is predicated upon third party approval for perl tool to replace applescript for creating custom DMGs; approval + implementation is out of scope for JDK8.
