7u40-critical-request justification: The fix applies to Linux and Solaris and changes the behavior of how large gc log file can be written to. As mentioned above, SQE needs it in order to get through some of their tests logging very long gc-log. The fix's been in hsx25 for a few days, stabilized. hsx 25 fix already pushed: http://hg.openjdk.java.net/hsx/hotspot-gc/hotspot/rev/feae15578b2f

Targeting this bug for hs24 since SQE is having problems with this issue in their testing.
