Description
The Java version is displayed with java -version

java version "1.6.0_11"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_11-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 11.0-b16, mixed mode)

SUNW_PRODVERS=1.7.0/1.7.0-ea-b128

java-jre_ea  1.7.0,5.11-128

This version may or may not have characters that cannot be mapped to the IPS version.
For JDK7 the non mappable alpha components are appended o the name. JDK 8 may want to address these differences. End users may not be able to easily determine the IPS version and the Solaris 11 IPS version. If the Oracle Version standard is very different we will be subjeting the user community to another version change

Pre Oracle Scheme
Oracle Solaris 11 introduction ( a smaller population that say windows)
Oracle Version for all Java instances

Comments
This is no longer applicable. IPS format and version has changed since this bug was filed and there is a completely new FMRI for IPS now.
