A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
JRE 6 update 10 beta, rc-2, final release is not working under Windows VISTA SP1. All other JRE previous version were uninstalled first and PC restarted, then installed JRE 6u10. In Control Panel, the Java Plug-in is installed as well as in Programs and Features. However, checking Internet Explorer 7 --> Internet Options --> Advance tab, the JRE does not appear. It is working only under JRE 6update7.
The same installer (JRE6u10) works under Windows XP SP3 using IE 7, after installation both the Java Plug-in in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and JRE in IE 7 are visible.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
1. Uninstalled all JRE under Programs and Features
Verified that JRE is no longer available under IE 7 Advance tab, Programs and Features, Java Plug-in under Control Panel
2. Restart computer
3. Install any JRE 6u10 release in Windows VISTA SP1
4. Check Programs and Features, it's installed
5. Check Control Panel --> Java, installed version is JRE 6u10
Java Plug-in for Internet Explorer already ticked
6. Check IE 7 --> Internet Options --> Advance tab, JRE cannot be found
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Expecting that JRE 6u10 is also available in IE 7 --> Internet Options --> Advance tab for Windows VISTA SP1 since JRE 6u7 shows that under IE7
ACTUAL -
1. Check Programs and Features, it's installed
2. Check Control Panel --> Java, installed version is JRE 6u10
Java Plug-in for Internet Explorer already ticked
3. Check IE 7 --> Internet Options --> Advance tab, JRE6u10 cannot be found
ERROR MESSAGES/STACK TRACES THAT OCCUR :
No error message found but the Java applet is not working due to unavailability of JRE under Internet Explorer
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

The above release value was the last known release where this
bug was not reproducible. Since then there has been a regression.
