A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :

After uninstalling an old JRE installation to resolve a JNI issue (Jarfile association was running 32-bit javaw instead of the new 64-bit installation), the .jar file association was not re-registered. After multiple reinstalls, reboots, uninstall-reboot-reinstall-reboots, there is still no association registered for .jar and no .jar entry in the registry. Tried both the JRE and JDK with no success.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Unknown if problem arose from the initial uninstall of the old Java installation. Assuming that it wasn't cause by that, a standard in stall is the only step in the reproduction procedure.

Filetype association for .jar files registered.
ACTUAL -
No association registered.

REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
