A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
I need to write some webstart applications that can access machines over the network other than the home server.  Unfortunately, in order to do that  I need to grant all-permissions, which grants me more priviliges than I need, such as unprotected access to the disk.

JUSTIFICATION :
Why must permissions be an all or nothing deal?  Why can't I only request permissions necessary to access the internet?  Many of my users will not trust me, and I'd like to provide them with as much assurance as I can.  Knowing their disk is safe would help a lot with this.
