Description
Use of Background Intelligence Transfer Service(BITS) on XP to download
java updates with normal(default) priority is generating lot of traffic
on java.sun.com and SDLC. To download approx 1.5MB of jre142_05-iftw.exe, BITS is
generating approx 15 or more requests of 100K eack. Each of these is causing
GetFileServlet to create a ticket in the database & redirect to SDLC.
So approc 100K downloads are causing more tham 1.5 million requests to SDLC
& java.sun.com

Comments
EVALUATION Setting the download priority to HIGH in BITS, brings down the number of requests to 2 ( 1 HEAD & 1 GET requests). ###@###.### 10/21/04 19:23 GMT
