Description
DPG group has upcoming products that support the above 2 linux, and
will support jdk 1.4.2_05.
(RH enterprise 3 series and Suse Enterprise 8 server and desktop)

We need to have the optimized asian font.properties files and other
related support in this jdk or else we cannot release the localized versions
of these products for these platforms, nor can any user of even the english product who runs in an asian locale, because the asian fonts will not appear correctly.
Releasing localized versions of our products is important.

EVALUATION This is not a Tiger issue. Tiger supports RHEL3 and SLES8. This bug would need to be escalated to be fixed in a 1.4.2 update release. ###@###.### 2004-04-21 According to the "supported locale" doc for tiger and 1.4.2: http://rhea.sfbay:91/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/intl/locale.doc.html http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/intl/locale.doc.html SuSE is only supported for Western European locales. We do not support SuSE for Asian locales. ###@###.### 2004-05-05 Can you clarify - is it that the Suse ent servers/clients do not support asian locales at all ? If they do, then that is exactly what this bug (and related escalation) is about - providing the asian font propertes files and other code/files for those OS. ###@###.### 05/05/2004 I will ask ###@###.### to test it. ###@###.### 2004-05-05
