A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
When starting the j2re-1_4_2-rc-windows-i586-iftw.exe the installer started and after a few seconds I got the error message
"This installation package could not be opened. ..."
I downloaded the installation set from 2 different places. And both result in the same behaviour. On WinXP all works well, so the installation should be okay.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Double click the installation programm


ERROR MESSAGES/STACK TRACES THAT OCCUR :
"This installation package could not be opened. ..."

EVALUATION We'll use this as a placeholder for the IE proxy config problem. If users run the iftw installer when their IE proxy info is incorrect, the installation will fail with the message "This installation package could not be opened...". The fix would be to create a wrapper installer and give a better message on why it is failing. I've spoken to installshield and I'm trying to get them to fix this in a future release. ###@###.### 2003-05-15 Committing to Tiger. WORK AROUND Go to ControlPanel->Internet Options, configure proxy info correct. Make sure you can view a web page with IE. ###@###.### 2003-05-15
