Description
-Create a common location for all jre/sdk's to be installed on all platforms. Something similar to C:/Progra~1/java for non-windows systems, so users have an idea of where to find them.
-create a common way for jre/sdk's to be discovered on non-windows platforms, most likely in a config file, with a possible tool for reading/writing from config file. This is similar to the windows registry. Review madhatter proposals and see if it is suffient for all platforms, or do we need to extend it?
-Based on the jre repository, we need a way to differentiate registration, discovery and default locations for enterprise, system and user installations for all platforms. Also, what impacts will this have on the user experience of the installations? Will we ask questions, or will they have to give arguments?
