Description

Name: ddT132432 Date: 09/12/2001

java version "1.4.0-beta2"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-beta2-b77)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-beta2-b77, mixed mode)

With all due respect, the icon used for the Java Web Start Application Manager
shortcut on my Windows system is ridiculously ugly. For some reason a 16 color
image is used, where you can barely tell you are looking at a button. At LEAST
256 colors is standard for icons in Windows, and I believe many other
platforms. And since this is in .ico format, I believe only Windows systems
will be using it anyway, so why not a nicer looking icon? If the cheesy button
picture has to be used (I'm obviously not too fond of it), at least it could
not have green, blue, and purple pixel artifacts in it.

EVALUATION 2 problems here 1.) people (me included) just don't like the button icon. - we should get the UI team to provide something beter for 1.2 2.) on some systems icon is worse than others - we need to look into. ###@###.### 2001-10-15 replaced with Java Cup Icon ###@###.### 2002-04-12
