Description

java version "1.2"
Classic VM (build JDK-1.2-V, native threads)

Accelerators shown in menus don't have international label, even if the locale
is set :

JMenuItem m_menuItem;

m_menuItem = aJMenu.add(anAction);

m_menuItem.setLocale(Locale.GERMAN);

1)

m_menuItem.setAccelerator(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_DELETE, 0));

2)

m_menuItem.setAccelerator(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_Z,
ActionEvent.CTRL_MASK));

example 1) should display "Entf." instead of "Delete"

and

example 2) should display "Strg+Z" instead of "Ctrl+Z"

EVALUATION This is not an I18N bug bug. Please localize awt_*.properties under sun/awt/resources. ###@###.### 2002-12-05 In Mantis, AWT.control, and AWT.delete have been translated in awt_de.properties and other Euro languages. But they are still kept in English in asian languages, I know it's OK for Simplified Chinese(zh_CN), but I am not sure whether it is correct for other asian languages, especially for Japanese. ###@###.### could you pls. confirm this with the native speaker? ###@###.### 2002-12-13 Yes, it's ok because Asian keyboards do not have English labels for Ctrl, Delete, etc. ###@###.###, please verify that the European localization are correct? ###@###.### 2003-03-06 ###@###.### 2003-03-28 Hi Michael, The strings look correct. I even checked them out against some localized keyboards we have here. This has been fixed before mantis-beta. I modified a java demo program MenuLookDemo.java to display the menu and accelerator labels. We can verify that the problem reported by the user in German is correct. We will create more comprehensive test cases for mantis-beta and tiger. For now, we will mark this as verified in mantis-beta. The test program and screen capture showing the correct German accelerators are attached. ###@###.### 2003-04-03 The reported problem about "Entf." and "Strg+Z" are fine on tiger ws. ###@###.### 2003-10-28
