Java Sound supports the following audio file formats:
AIFF, AU and WAV. It also supports the following MIDI
based song file formats: TYPE 0 MIDI, TYPE 1 MIDI
and RMF.

BUT YOU DO NOT SUPPORT ONE OF THE MOST USED AUDIO FORMATS
ON THE WEB: MPEG Audio layer 3 or MP3!

Although this is a relatively new audio format, MP3 will
allow Java Developers to add near CD-quality audio to
applications and applets at the best size\quality ratio!

Please add MP3 support to your JMF Sound API.

EVALUATION We are aware of demand for MP3 support, and seriously considering adding support to Java Sound. kara.kytle@Eng 1999-03-09
