We want to be able to adjust the Program Counter in order to retry or skip
over a line or block of code. This is a common capability of debuggers on
native applications.

Java users would still profit from this enhancement. See e.g. a user request at https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=255857

The fact that this has not been implemented for 8 years (now it is 11 years), should not be a reason to close this issue. The requirement is still valid.
