Description
After HTML and MIF (4034052), probably the next most useful output document type to support is RTF, the intermediate form used by Microsoft Word. It is the defacto standard on Wintel systems. Java developers on PC systems will likely want to publish online documentation using the WinHelp compiler with RTF.

Comments
WORK AROUND I suspect there are several HTML-to-RTF converters available. But that solution is likely to be less than satisfactory since most such converters place restrictions on the conversion process that could result in less than optimal RTF documents.

EVALUATION Closing out because this is not a high priority for JavaSoft or Sun. We could write an RTF doclet instead of a MIF doclet, since FrameMaker can read both, but that adds a level of uncertainty since Frame Technology specifies MIF better than RTF. doug.kramer@Eng 1998-04-03
