A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
The following is printed perhaps 2% of the time during VM startup in 2 applications that have always worked in the past and have not changed.  I have now verified the problem occurs in Hello World as well.  We did recently upgrade the kernel from a one that was several months old to the latest:

EVALUATION Note that the primordial thread is created near the bottom of its stack (sp is close to lower end of stack): Stack: [0xbfe00000,0xc0000000), sp=0xbfe007ac, free space=1k It is a known bug in exec-shield where it could waste too much stack space. A possible workaround is to disable stack randomization. See 5099186. You could also try to set a different ulimit -s value (set it to something smaller than 2048).
