Deadlock causes the following 2D test cases fail:

1 BlackBox
2 DualMode
3 ImageIOReaderIIStreamTest 
4 ImageIOReaderTest
5 ImageIOWriterCompTest 
6 WriterProgressiveEncodeTest 

JDK7 b48

Solaris 10/sparcv9

With the same jdk 7 b48, it does not happen on the following two platforms:

Windows 2008 SE x86
Windows XP Pro SP3 x86

EVALUATION According to attached thread dumps it seems to be an XAWT problem.
