Description
If entering a longer text (e.g. 50 'a') into a text field with active Japanese
IM in JDK 1.4.2, all the characters are first entered. However, after return is pressed, only the first 31 characters are comitted.

I attach a test case which can be used to reproduce the problem. Please be aware that this test case is very Linux-distribution dependent and will only work as expected under Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and Suse Linux 9.0.

EVALUATION I could reproduce the problem with 1.4.2_05, 1.4.2_06 and 1.4.2_07 under RedHat Enterprise Linux 3. The ISV claims that it should also be reproducible under Suse Linux 9.0, but I couldn't check this. The bug has also been confirmed by Xiaobin Lu an RedHat As3.0 (thank's Xiaobin). He wrote: ".. It could be a XIM implementation of that particular Linux distribution since the same JDK works with later Linux version. But it could also be JDK issue..". The problem definitely doesn't occur under Suse Linux 9.2 and Fedora Core 3. It also doesn't show up with JDK 1.5 on any of the tested Linux platforms. ###@###.### 2005-03-01 09:00:01 GMT Looks like it's a duplicate of 5025462. Xiaobin, can you try this with Tiger, and if the problem is not seen, can you close this bug? ###@###.### 2005-03-01 18:37:21 GMT This bug can't be reproduced with 1.5 & 1.6 on Linux as the submitter pointed out. However, this bug can be reproduced with 1.4.2_0x on the same system which works with 1.5 or 1.6. So please escallate this issue to CTE team and they will fix it in the update release. ###@###.### 2005-03-01 19:15:13 GMT
