A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
I would like to know if Sun forecast to integrate soon the SCTP (RFC 2960) transport protocol in the JDK (in addition to TCP and UDP).

JUSTIFICATION :
The SCTP transport protocol becomes more and more popular in numerous areas for transporting SS7 signaling in first point but also soon in the domain of reliable server pooling (see the ietf working group http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/rserpool-charter.html), IP mobility (for keeping a sctp connection open the while the IP address change)...

EVALUATION It is still unclear how much interest there is in SCTP. While it might be desirable to support it, until there is more customer demand for it, it will remain low priority. On top of that, we do need some support from the underlying OSes. Will re-evaluate for Mustang. ###@###.### 2003-09-25
