Description
We have a remote customer service application developed using Java Applet that is used by over 100 clients. The applet is located at http://paymentiq.onlinebank.com/
When you click on "Enter Payment IQ" you will be opening the page with the
Applet that requires 1.4.0

We recently changed the version of the Java Plug required in the Applet HTML to Java 1.4.0. The symptoms of the problem are that the applet classloader stops without loading the applet or downloading the jar. The only thing that changed was the upgrade on the clients to Java Plugin 1.4.0.

The clients that had the problem all had proxy settings set in the Browser specifying proxy address and port numbers.

Comments
WORK AROUND Only found workaround was to revert those clients back to 1.3.1_02 which works.

EVALUATION Could not reproduce it behine sun's proxy server with JRE 1.4.0. Need more information about the proxy servers that have problem with 1.4.0, such as vendor, version and if the proxy server is password protected, etc. ###@###.### 2002-04-15 From customers' feedback, it seems to be NTLM problem, all users reported using Microsoft Proxy Server. We don't support NTLM at this point. There is a workaround by using a shareware implementation of NTLM: http://www.luigidragone.com/networking/ntml.html ###@###.### 2002-05-10
