Description
The Java programming language and APIs use the Unicode standard as the foundation of their character representation. Unicode is an evolving standard, and the Java platform needs to be updated to support the latest stable Unicode version available at the time of code freeze.

EVALUATION Tiger feature. ###@###.### 2002-02-20 This was an umbrella RFE for tracking all the work related to updating Tiger's Unicode version (see the See Also field). Except for the dependance on JSR 204 (see 4533872), all the work has been completed for this feature. Thus this RFE can be closed. Please note there is no specific putback to the workspace associated with closing this. ###@###.### 2003-12-03
