Description
This problem has been observed on all supported platforms by running the TestRunner reliability suite.
There are several Sound bugs that are thought to be responsible for this high degree of unreliability. The following bug reports describe these problems: 4417527, 4383457, 4345944, 4399359, 4392953, 4338882, 4334868, 4318062, 4310103

Committing to mantis. ###@###.### 2002-10-31 Since this is an aggregated bug of 9 individual bugs, and the fact that I ran several core tests for over 24 hours, I close this bug as fixed in 1.4.1.
